Is That Me?

W hile reading an article in the newspaper, I thought I saw myself in a crowd of people in a photograph. I thought for a few minutes and realized that I had not recently been to Atlanta, GA, nor had I ever been there. And if I had been it would probably not be to attend a contest where people use a machete to see how many water bottles they could slice open with one whack.

The 10th annual World Championship Cutting Contest

I finished the article but halfway through I thought of the movie Kill Bill.

Volume One or Volume Two ?

One, of course.

((( I actuaLLy knew that?!?!?!? - you ask )))

No, I had to look it up, I couldn't remember which movie has the super long fight scene, the scene with the slicing and dicing.

Hmmm, interesting, maybe I finaLLy do have a reason to go to Atlanta. Next year. I found a video of the competition at www.bladesports.org

  3. I have never seen a film called kill bill, or cut water bottles up with a machete or even seen a Rob double in Atlantis. You would think of all the places in the world they would show more concern for their water than to attack it with machete's.

  4. Rob Z T: What?!?!? You have never heard of the two Quentin Tarantino movies Kill Bill from 2003-2004 starring Uma Thurman and David Carradine?

As the plastic is on the outside of the bottles of water as weLL as the golf baLL, I feel sorry for the pain the plastic must endure. Think of the stress on the metal of the blade, poor thing! I blame it aLL on those late night infomercials for Ginzu knifes. There just aren't quite enough things in the world priced at $19.95 plus shipping & handling. To top it aLL off, I don't remember the year 1995 as being that great of a year, but I think 1996 was slightly better, and 1997 was somewhat of a homecoming, making it back to the promised land, finaLLy getting to be a chemist for a little while before being sucked in the Abyss, The Black Hole of Computer Science. Hold it, what were we talkin' 'bout? Oh, yea, k-nives ....

  5. Rob again: I think Elton H. John has a house in Atlanta, so maybe we could stay there during a visit.

  6. Ooo yes..... I have heard of those films but not seen them I feel the title rather gives away the plot although I guess Bill survived the first film...?

  7. Rob: Even if someone told you how the movie ends, it would stiLL probably be worth seeing at least parts of these films just to see the surrealness of this one movie that is disguised as two. BUT there is eXtreme violence, content unsuitable for minors and profanity throughout the entire movie. The G rated version of this movie would be approximately 5 minutes long, and would require renaming the movie(s) to just Bill, and would be considerably confusing as the character Bill would not be in those 5 minutes.

  9. Marianne: I am not a basebaLL person, but I did read the wikipedia article on the New York Yankees yesterday, as weLL as a few other articles on some of the players and things basebaLL-ish. (This almost sounds like a Holiday Inn Express commercial.)

  13. Rob: I almost included you as a neXt layer of you, Pearl und me, but then I decided to wait to see if you would respond and how, so it worked out perfectly! Ah ha ha oh ho ho eh he hee he ha ho ha. ActuaLLy I think we are aLL laminations of patterns of wonderful siLLy absurd round and profound. Sometimes just found. Life is one-der-fuLL

  14. If you do go to Atlanta, will you go wearing a yellow leather jumpsuit similar to the one worn by miss therman in Kill Bill? Please? If you do take a picture and let us see :D (or at least me!)

  15. Aysh: I don't think I have ever wore anything that even begins to look like that party-cular Uma outfit. Except for special occassionnss such as weddings and funerals, I almost always wear the eXact same model of shirt from J.C. Penney's everyday, just in different colors. Solid color polo shirt by St John's Bay. At the moment there are eighteen of them hanging in the west end of my closet usuaLLy on a maroon colored hanger unless I run out of that color, then I use a white hanger. The shirts on the west side are my active shirts, worn at least once. The east side of the closet has nine shirts just like the west side, eXcept they are brand new and sorted in a rainbow sequence. Each shirt is equidistant from another by a distance of two fingers (mine). I think there are approximately ten shirts that are in the laundry process, so maybe around forty shirts aLL two gather.

  16. Aysh: I just read that Uma gave birth to a daughter two days ago.

  17. I have noticed that there have been many comments now thanks to Bill and in most cases what people are writing appears to be correct. I therefore would suggest that rather than kill Bill we should rename him, The Bill of Rights....

  18. This is hilarious. I guess there are worse reasons to go to Atlanta.

I often think I see myself in magazines, and then my husband will say "Are you out of your mind? that is Taylor Swift." See what a little near-sightedness can do?

    best,

  19. Rob: Right is part of at least a quadruple homonym in the English language

    right - rite - wright - write

I found an interesting eXample of the use of wright in a proper name. The word wright is compounded with other words to describe the item that undergoes the 'wright' process. I believe wright means to constructs or repairs something. The word playwright is an eXample. On the Loop in Amarillo TX just north of I-40 is a business that sells trailers for 18 wheelers, and the family name of the business is Cartwright.

  20. MOV: Yes, I agree, I have thought of Taylor Swift at least one time when I have seen your iconized portrait. And now that you have reminded me, I wiLL always think of TS when I see your icon!

  21. You're so organised! Can you come to the uk and organise my closet for me? There could be a baked treat in it for you. I'm sure that would compensate the plane ticket to the uk and work you would do asserting my closet, yes?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Aysh: I am just barely organized enough to fake being eXtremely organized. Coming to The UK would be great fun, even if there was work involved. It would just matter on the mathema-tickle product of quality & quantities of the baked goods, but being able to do asserting while assorting and assisting a sister would be a supreme source of satisfaction.
