I was born slightly less than 100 years after the Civil War began, and now that I am slightly more than half of 100 years old I feel closer to Abraham Lincoln, as I am just slightly younger than Abe when he died.
Thank you Steven Spielberg for indirectly reminding me. His Lincoln movie is coming out soon in November, veRy close to the day of the month of the Gettysburg address, November 19th, seven and a half score minus one years ago (149). I hope I did my score math correctly.
I celebrated by buying 'Team of Rivals' by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

That very nice Steven Spielberg will now have time to read my diary, he appears to keep getting distracted by modes of transport. First it was horses and now it is cars. He has already done spacecraft and I don't know about aeroplanes.
Anyway I think what he needs now is an interesting tale of life in the Shropshire borders as a movie plot.
The Ghost Writer who is 59 says he feels closer a rusty Lincoln Continental with a flat battery.
Rob: You can teLL Ghost Writer that I have a 1998 Lincoln Continental for sale. It just needs an alternator. Other than that, it is a perfectly good rocket sled, veRy zoom zooom zoooom-ish. I have to get started early today, I need to finish a mess I have started trying to repair a fluorescent light fixture, emphasis on the "try". I may have to wait until my electrician friend gets back from vacation. He is on a cruise and his ceLL number appears to not be working. Oh, what interesting things happen to people when they s'pposedly retire (him, not me).
I LOVE Doris Kearns Goodwin, and that is a book on my tbr list. I have not really thought about how young Lincoln actually was when he was assassinated- something to ponder.

Now if you had said a 1964 or a 1968 Lincoln Continental for sale, the Ghost Writer might have got all excited. But I have pointed out he has no money and a 1960's Lincoln Continental would not really fit on the small winding roads of the British countryside.
Shelly: I calculated our ages, and Lincoln was just a few months older than what I am now when he gave his Gettysburg Address. After I moved away from South Dakota I discovered that it also has a Gettysburg, but it was named after a railroad.
Pearl: Ah, too bad Abe didn't have a telegraphed version of the Internet so he could have had NetFlix.
Rob: The 1998 version of the Continental was much smaLLer than the previous versions of that car. I think it is rather Jaguar-ish actuaLLy, in size and shape. That is possibly why I bought it. It was originaLLy my wife's car. We buy practicaLLy aLL of our vehicles used, so by the time we ever seLL them they are veRy used. But this one hasn't been used much in the last four years, essentiaLLy zero in the last two.
I was born just before Argo. Yours will probably get more Oscars.
Mia: I am thinking of seeing 'Flight', the Denzel Washington movie.
