Absent For A Bit ....

I am away for a little while working on a few or more episodes for The Adventures of My Space Alien Alter Ego story ... will return (to Earth) soon!

Notice: Blogger has screwed up and lost a bunch of photos out of my blog! They are replaced with a gray silhouette of a human head. I will eventually get them replaced with the correct photo, it may take a while to find and fix everything. So some of my stories don't make much sense without their photos, sorry for the inconvenience.

No Know Bernie

I was sitting in my office chatting with my wife. She noticed an ad on a Facebook screen that had incorporated Bernie in it. She asked, "What does 'Borger For Bernie' mean?"

I told her that it was a reference to Bernie Sanders, and she asked me who he was. I asked her, do you not know who Bernie Sanders is?!?!?!?, to which she replied she did not. I think she lives in an apolitical mind set, or only pays attention to things her customers talk about. Obviously she has not paid any attention to my conversations about Bernie.

I told her that she just might be the only non-comatose person in the United States who did not know who Bernie is. She laughed and said, thanks for comparing me to people in a coma.

-----

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am somewhat trapped in Borger because of the predicted snow and ice storm scheduled to arrive later today. I had no intention of asking someone to drive on icy roads to take care of my dogs while I go out of town. I think there are also heavy rains scheduled in the destination spot as well.

Pepper, the new dog, is starting to get things figured out. He is needing lots of attention from me. I think he has figured out that cheese is associated with the 9 PM crickets sound on my iPhone alarm.

It appears I am starting Christmas Day with a veRy severe headache.

I am cooking something new today: Shrimp étouffée

They had a powder mix at the groc store along with frozen raw shrimp that has been de-tailed. It appears they left off the correct É for the first letter on the packaging.

Bernie Sanders is almost entirely unknown here in Britain but through my few links via cyberspace and reading the news on the BBC website I do know the name. So your wife should say she is being British in her outlook to American politics. This way she can look at folk and say is he a member of that fine shoe producing family nod knowingly and point at the Union Jack.

Dogs always know when it is time to eat.

And take care in the snow and ice. We are just getting a lot of constant rain.

Merry Christmas and New Year Mr ESB

Rob: We were/are s'pposed to get an historic blizzard of epic or maybe just pic, proportions. I haven't really seen that happen in my town, although there are a few really bad places throughout Texas right now. There was a blizzard, killer tornado, and floods all on the same day across Texas. But I was able to drive to the store just fine, but when I got there they had closed 5 hours early due to the weather, which I thought might have been silly. So I went to Walmart almost directly across the highway from the closed store. Hope your cat is feeling better.

fmcgmccllc: I am able to do fancy letters by holding down longer than normal on a key on my iPad keyboard. If alternate renderings are available (usually several), a popup window appears, then I am able to slide my finger (demo: ėęēêeêèéë) to the one alternate rendering of the letter at a time. But do you notice the e in the middle of all those alternates? In that case I simply let my finger off the keyboard and it simply gave me a simple e. I noticed one of my friends in FB had in corporated a fancy German looking B into his name, but I was unable to change my name to Érnést. It is two fs in étouffée, according to my package of sauce.

I wondered how you got on with the weather, glad to hear that the worst of it missed you. The North of England is having a terrible time with flooding but we are OK. And the cat which I was very worried about is now eating and drinking again. It is just me who is not feeling 100% now . . . but we have a bit of sun today so I have some small jobs on the house to sort before the next lot of rain turns up tomorrow.

Rob: We turned out pretty lightly treated compared to most people around us. Eastern New Mexico was harder hit with snow and ice and power outages. We had a total of 3 inches of snow and our roads were driveable by Monday. I saw one spot in the Texas panhandle got 20 inches, and then wind blew between 30 and 50 plus miles per hour for 30 hours straight, amazing noise level. It was accurately predicted very far ahead of time and people seemed more prepared than normal. There were whiteout conditions so people weren't traveling and the main interstate highway was shut down until Monday in Texas but still closed in New Mexico. But I heard reports just recently that Oklahoma got hit with weather too but I haven't learned those details. Several comical things, a herd of 20 cattle got loose on the loop in Lubbock...
