Absent For A Bit ....

I am away for a little while working on a few or more episodes for The Adventures of My Space Alien Alter Ego story ... will return (to Earth) soon!

Notice: Blogger has screwed up and lost a bunch of photos out of my blog! They are replaced with a gray silhouette of a human head. I will eventually get them replaced with the correct photo, it may take a while to find and fix everything. So some of my stories don't make much sense without their photos, sorry for the inconvenience.

Homo ignorantes & Natural Gas Outage Outrage Without Gauge

"Homo sapiens", our genus and species designation means "wise man". I think all the senseless slaughter by religious zealots indicates there is a new species: "Homo ignorantes"

Last night I was watching the news on a local channel that had a contest for guessing the amount of total snowfall for Amarillo TX for the last several months. I believe it was like October through February, and they announced the "winner", the person who had guessed the closest amount to the official amount of snowfall. BUT... I thought to myself, hold it, today is the 27th, aren't there 28 days in this February? Isn't there one more day of February ...AND... this is reaLLy important, it's snowing right now and more is coming tomorrow when it is stiLL February?

I think Rudy Giuliani has proven that people who are 70 should retire by 69 just before insanity kicks in. You shouldn't have a national debate that sounds like sleep deprived 5 year olds arguing or The Smothers Brothers "Mom liked you best" routine.

I just found out they are soon turning the LHC at CERN back on with vast improvements. I think they must now rename the LHC to the Larger Hadron Collider.

If you name a building 'Torch' and then it catches on fire, should you be surprised? The Arabic word for 'NO!!!!' is لا !!!!

From Feb 19th: My wife paid our natural gas bill over the phone while talking to a gas company representative a couple days ago but the company applied it to the wrong account, our business downtown, and they turned off the gas to my house! I was even home at the time of the disconnection and no one bothered to knock on my door or called my phone. We found out about it informally from our friend at the gas company.

And I usually pay the gas company several months at a time (ahead) because they have an outrageous $1.50 extra charge for making a payment, which amounts to $18 a year if you make monthly payments. So I am usually several hundred dollars AHEAD at any random moment with the business account.

I am glad I wasn't in the middle of cooking lasagne when they turned it off.

Hah! What idiots. They actually physically removed the meter instead of just turning a valve and locking it out.

Its not like we were going to skip town suddenly, we have been paying a gas bill for 30 plus years.

BUT they were going to wait until next week to schedule getting our gas turned back on! After two furious phone calls my wife strongly indicated that it was entirely their fault and a supervisor finally & wisely agreed with her.

After about an hour we were back in gas.

Don't know which I like better the phony snow contest or the gas company snafu. Both are life at the best of the worst. Speaking of which, poor Rudy. Even at his best he could be his own worst enemy. A guy you gotta like and feel real sorry for at the same time. He just can't get it right no matter how hard he tries.

Oooooo you did better than folk do in Britain with your gas. If they turn you off over here you need to talk to a machine to try and fix the problem. Machines dont understand they can make mistakes and so dont give you that as an option. So getting a simple error sorted can be a big issue.

Luckily we dont have gas in our little village and we have lots of solar panels so electricity likes us.

The Larger Hadron Collider must be huge as it was almost huge before. I just hope they dont use gas.

Rob: I checked the LHC and they use a bottle of Hydrogen gas for the proton source. They don't use much. They use much more liquid helium for cooling. My part of the world is the main source of helium. Our natural gas field is rich in helium.

fmcgmccllc: I live in a veRy conservative part of the country where almost no one says anything nice about the president when they are Democrats. Luckily I wasn't raised here.

OOOOoooo there is a lot of Helium in Texas is my new interesting fact.

Texas is Texas, and yes verrrry conservative. Here in Michigan if you are not a Dem and do not support every whim of the UAW you are a horrible person and should be shot but they don't believe in guns or bullets.

Rob: If you look carefully at Amarillo TX you can see how it has grown towards the western direction in one mile increments for its major north-south and east-west thoroughfares. Land in the Texas Panhandle is rather flat except where the Canadian River interrupts it and tributaries. So alot of rural roads are laid out in one mile grids with so called Farm To Market and county roads. The most recent north-south thoroughfare is Soncy Road, and a mile west is Helium Road. There is a vast underground helium storage in a formation called the Bush Dome.

Ok, that Rudy Giuliani comment made me chuckle quite a bit, which is very strange as my right ear is blocked. It's a strange thing to laugh out loud and then have that laugh reverberate around your head like it's in HD.

Lily Jo: You must have incredible and possibly redundant wiring or internal wireless networking in order to achieve HD with a blocked right ear. I am thinking you must be running Android system software version 5 code named Lollipop or possibly version 6 which I have code named Marzipan. Perhaps instead of Bluetooth technology it is Redeardrum.

Lily Jo said...

Mr E, I'm gonna go with 'redundant wiring.' I believe my therapist said something similar about the way in which my thought pattern works. Pah, but what does he know? Well, quite a lot actually...

I'm also gonna go with 'Lollipop,' I hate Marzipan. Anything with an almond taste, should not be made to look like rolled out plasticine and placed upon cakes...and that includes cyanide.

Lily Jo: I am just guessing that the neXt version of the Android operating system will be caLLed Marzipan. The major versions are generally given confectionery names in alphabetical order.

Alpha
Beta
Cupcake
Donut
Eclair
Froyo (short for frozen yogurt)
Gingerbread
Honeycomb
Ice Cream Sandwich
Jelly Bean
Kit Kat
Lollipop

I remembered that cyanide has an almond taste from Organic Chemistry class, but I don't know why it does.

I was wrong about the almond taste of cyanide. It has a bitter almond odor, not taste.
