I started working with two Japanese language apps on my iPad recently. The newer one focuses on phrases. I checked my status, and it gave these eXact spellings:
You haven't any masterd phrases this week.
You haven't any masterd phrases today.
You haven't any masterd phrases.
You haven't any familiar phrases.
Total Learning Time:
0 Hours 26 Minutes
Actually, I have spent far more time than that working with the app, passing some tests, but the app crashes every once in awhile and I think it completely forgets any work in lost sessions. It actually crashes at a higher frequency than the Safari web browser, which I think crashes at least 6 times a day with fairly constant use.
At least I had already mastered the correct spelling of mastered before starting this app.
DOG BONUS: I like other people's dogs almost as much as my own. Here is some reaLLy cool photography of Maddie The Coonhound, some very amazing shots of a quite talented dog & physics.

Old Japanese sayings
Man may find Harmony with his APPS. But his APPS may not find Harmony with Man.
An Eye can see an Apple but can not eat it.
The fact that you are trying to master Japanese language apps is frightening enough in itself.
Friko: I have been working on Japanese for a very long time on a sporadic basis, mainly kanji (the ones based on Chinese characters), so I am trying to gain *some* fluency. But I am a very poor language student, and I have worked on several languages, so I know a little bit from about a dozen languages. I am just trying to stay focused now on Japanese. I spent about a year focused on Arabic language and cultures while my son was in the Middle East.
Ah, just drink some sake and try again.
fmcgmccllc: Sake, ah, there is an interesting project!
Those photos are gorgeous, I wonder if they are all on the spot or doctored.
Good luck with the Japanese.
Julie: I was confused for a seond or two, thinkin, what PHOTOS?!?!? Then I remembered the Coonhound link. Oh, I looked at them carefully I and think they are the real thing, but I wonder how he initiated the action to get the dog to get into position. Some of the positions are quite eXtreme when you eXamine the distance from the ground state. Amazing, a veRy trusting animal.
That APP sounds stupd.
Jewels: hahahaha, thanks, I needed a stupd giggle today. That would make a great T-shirt, bumper sticker, or poster, "I'm Not Stupd".
I must venture out now for groc shopping, although I think tonight we are eating out.
Konichiwa!
I've always been fascinated by the japanese culture. My addiction to sailor moon and naruto (japanese comics/cartoons) has allowed me to understand the odd word.
One good friend i used to work with was from Japan. We both dislike our manager Ali very much, and he taught me how to say 'Ali is a woman' in Japanese:
'Ari wa ono desiyo'
et voila.
