Now that Putin has called off the attack on the steel plant where the last resistance fighters are in encircled in Mariupol, does that mean that Ukraine can call that tiny region a breakaway republic?
I think a good name for it would be Seredniy palets, or in Ukrainian: Середній палець or in English: Middle Finger

"I consider the proposed storming of the industrial zone unnecessary. I order you to cancel it," he said. "There's no need to climb into these catacombs and crawl underground through these industrial facilities ... Block off this industrial area so that not even a fly can get through."
So Vladimir Putin created his own
No-Fly Zone in part of Ukraine !!!

Hello Mr ESB . . . . Sorry I'm not about much at present, just life the universe and the like means there is much to do.
As for Putin he is mad and emotionless which is a bad combination. I do hope he realizes his place in history will be that of a brutal dictator and that he can no longer change that.

I have been having sadness about Ukraine being invaded but I am encouraged by most of the world rallying behind them and the Ukrainian people defending themselves and I am even encouraged by the Russian soldiers who refuse to fight in Ukraine. But then in the last few days we had the terrible school shooting and deaths and injuries in Uvalde Texas, in a rural town just about the same size as ours, in a county with a population about the same as ours, with the underlying message: it could happen to you, some monster could brutally take away your grandchildren or their friends in a similar horrible senseless way. And the Republicans only answer is more guns and let's limit the schools to only having one door. The Uvalde school did have a police presence and that didn't stop this shooter. And now I am hearing that the police waited outside for quite a while after the first encounter! The Republicans want to guard unborn children from any or most abortions BUT once they are born, you'd better teach them how to wear body armor, because Republicans love their bullets more than your babies.
