Absent For A Bit ....

I am away for a little while working on a few or more episodes for The Adventures of My Space Alien Alter Ego story ... will return (to Earth) soon!

Notice: Blogger has screwed up and lost a bunch of photos out of my blog! They are replaced with a gray silhouette of a human head. I will eventually get them replaced with the correct photo, it may take a while to find and fix everything. So some of my stories don't make much sense without their photos, sorry for the inconvenience.

NaBloPoMo #5 Point Nothing

NaBloPoMo - National Blog Posting Month

Question #5: How do you feel about national writing contests that can't seem to get their act together and give their writing prompts in a reasonable time frame?

My Response: The real fifth question has not arrived yet from NaBloPoSLOWPokes so I made up a question of my own. It is now well into the day at 7:30 AM and there is no prompt question from their system and I am tired of waiting. I guess I will offset the days and -hopefully- give you the real fifth question's answer tomorrow.

Update: 8:30 AM - still no prompt, and to think they actually encourage the participants to do their blog post early in the day. I wonder if that is why my dog woke up this morning? He came in the bedroom and made his normal Iwanttogooutsidenownoise but when I arrived at the living room he stopped there AND the wife was already up. Ah, how sweet, togetherness! (actually semi-grumpy me went back to bed. He did come back to bed to warm my feet an hour later, so all is forgiven. I did give him a Beggin' Strip earlier as well.)

Update: 9:30 AM - nothing new, no prompt yet.

Update: 10:06 AM - sorry, I finally read the fine print. There are no updates on WEEKENDS. I guess they aren't creative enough to have daily prompts be every day. It appears there is no 'system', just a human who types something once a day, no robotic program. And I was so hoping for a robotic failure. Possibly they ran outta questions? November has thirty days, only 22 of them are weekdays this year. SO ... now ... what to do, what to do, hmmm, I decided to make you a chart so that the next time you have a November you can know how many weekdays (Mon-Fri) there are in the month of November based on whatever the first day of the month is. I also added what date in the month the fourth Thursday is, for Thanksgiving in the United States of America.

21 - Sun - TDay: 26
22 - Mon - TDay: 25
22 - Tue - TDay: 24
22 - Wed - TDay: 23
22 - Thu - TDay: 22
21 - Fri - TDay: 28
20 - Sat - TDay: 27

Thank you for the helpful chart. Frankly, I don't know how I lived this long without it. I think NaBloPoMo is a little bit lazy to not give prompts for all the days. Therefore, because I am Virgo Helper Girl, I will give you enough propmts to get you through the weekends. (These are all just off the top of my head, so bear with me.)

1. will skip, since date already happened
2. same
3. Why do you write?
4. If you could live anywhere (not where you live now), where would it be?
5. What are you most proud of in your life?
6. When you were a small child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
7. If there were no alligators or crocodiles in the world, how would this change your life? (gotta have one "fun" question!)
8. Decsribe yourself in 5 words, but they must be the 5 words your spouse or a close friend would use to describe you (you may not ask them).
9. Bonus question (if you decide to go back and do 1 and 2): What is your favorite season, and why? and if you had to get rid of a season, which one would you say goodbye to?
10. Who was/ is the most influential person in your life and why?

Wow, maybe I should get a job at NaBloPoMo! Hope this makes you smile, and OF COURSE I would be flattered if you end up using any of my prompts for your weekend writing.

best,
MOV

MOV: Thank you very much. I will definitely be using things from your list, not sure which ones just yet, they made me chuckle going through them at first glance. I am not used to forcing my self, two words, to meet a particular volume of blog posts to match a set calendar and I am not sure if I like the idea (yet). After 400 plus blog posts in the time period of 4 years and 4 months, that works out to considerably less than one per day every day. I have had a couple months at slightly more than 20, but these months felt very prolific and serendipitous. I just prefer for things to show up on my blog in that manner, the things that I feel have good entertainment value. But I noticed that I do something different than most bloggers by having certain blog posts that have short pieces that keep growing over time. So even though I may not have published a blog post in a week, I have put additional items in my "Headlines" lists that are kind of like Twitter, or a tiny story in my ongoing journey of learning the HVAC business. So I am always writing, and publishing. I spent the 10 years of my life right before blogging having an e-mail pen pal writing with one particular friend from my childhood that was a wonderful experience, documenting all the fun and crazy things of life as well as helping each other through difficult times. So in essence I have been doing the blog type activity for about 15 years.

Thanks again for your list, you are most helpful! Enjoy you abunches!
